Health and safety policy

  • This policy reflects that employer and senior management of BalPro Construction are vitally interested in the health and safety of its workers. Protection of workers from injury or occupational disease is a major continuing objective.
  • BalPro Construction will make every effort to provide a safe, healthy work environment. All employers, supervisors and workers must be dedicated to the continuing objective of reducing risk of injury.
  • BalPro Construction as an employer, is ultimately responsible for worker health and safety. Safety is an integral part of our business. Safety is incorporated into all aspects of quality, service, cost effectiveness and customer relationships.
  • All employees will be held accountable for their performance. All employees must work together to allow continuous improvements in providing a safe, healthy workplace, now and in future. The goal is to make every day an accident free day.
  •  Supervisors are subject to various duties in the workplace, including the duty to ensure that machinery and equipment are safe and that workers work in compliance with established safe work practices and procedures.
  • All employees will comply with all applicable legislation in the performance of their duties. This includes but is not limited to applicable Occupational Health and Safety and Legislation and Regulations; Company Policies; Provincial Highway Traffic acts and all Federal and Provincial legislations regarding Constructions. 
  • All employees, when required, will learn the site- specific safety requirements of our client’s facilities.
  • Every worker must protect his or her own health and safety by working in compliance with the law and with safe work practices and procedures established by the employer. Workers will receive information, training and competent supervision in their specific work tasks to protect their health and safety.
  • It is in the best interest of all parties to consider health and safety in every activity. Commitment to health and safety must form an integral part of this organization, from the president to the workers.

It is the responsibility of all employees, contractors and visitors to work safely and use proper safety measures to eliminate or reduce the risk of accidents and health hazards at workplace. All unsafe conditions are to be reported to management immediately.

BalPro Construction also have a program in place to implement that policy. This program varies, depending upon the hazards encountered in a particular workplace. Program elements include following:

  1. Worker training (e.g., new workers, WHMIS, new job procedures)
  2. Workplace inspections and hazard analysis
  3. Analysis of the accidents and illnesses occurring at the workplace
  4. A health and safety budget
  5. Safe use of tools
  6. A formal means of communication to address promptly the concerns of workers
  7. Machine guarding
  8. Material handling practices and procedures
  9. Maintenance and repairs
  10. Housekeeping
  11. Protective equipment
  12. Emergency procedures
  13. First aid and rescue procedures
  14. Electrical safety
  15. Fire prevention
  16. Engineering controls (e.g., ventilation)
